Thanksgiving Entertainment for the Kids: Pumpkin Pie Playdough

Need something to keep the kids entertained while Thanksgiving dinner is cooking? How about some pumpkin playdough?! It smells just like pumpkin pie (but I can promise, it doesn’t taste like it!).

This recipe is good for a few children. If you want a bigger recipe, see the original here.

1 cup flour (if it’s too runny, add a bit more)

1/2 cup salt

2 teaspoons cream of tartar

2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice

1 Tablespoon vegetable oil

1 cup water

orange food coloring (2 parts yellow, 1 part red)

Dump it all in the pot. Add the food coloring until it’s the color you want. Cook and stir constantly over medium heat until a large ball forms (there will be lumps). Knead on a floured surface until smooth. Let cool. Give to your children to play with, telling them not to eat it, although it smells so yummy!

Store in an airtight container (I use Ziplock bags).

**The picture above gives you an idea of how much it made.
