Locals: Leslie told me about this fun, FREE Halloween train ride that is an annual tradition in their home. It’s called the Stringtown Nightmare Express, but don’t let the name fool you: If you go before 6:00, it’s very kid-friendly. She said that even if you go later, it’s not too scary; it’s made for families!
I guess this family own a whole bunch of land in Lindon. They have built houses on the corners of the property and use the middle to set up a “haunted” forest. They then take families around the premises on a train. You’ll see characters, such as Dr. Frankenstein and his assistant, Dracula and his wife, characters from The Nightmare Before Christmas, a scarecrow, a werewolf, Harry Potter, several pirates, several princesses, a headless horsemen, and even a horse. There are also, of course, an entourage of scarers scattered about the Nightmare Express, usually hidden stealthily among the other props (from their website).
It’s completely free, but they do ask for donations that go to a different charity every year. So cool!
We’re going to try it out tomorrow night. I heard the lines are long so dress warm! I’ll give you a review when we get back! Costumes are encouraged!
Thanx, Leslie!!! We can’t wait to try it out!!
Note: They also do the Polar Express at Christmas, but you have to have reservations for that one. Also free. I’ll try to remember to post about it when I find out.
