Worldwide Day of Play

playing in the rain this past spring!

Saturday, September 24 is the Worldwide Day of Play. As you know, I love open-ended free play for kids (and adults!). I’m not sure what we’ll be doing yet… I guess I should get on it!! I’m sure we’ll have a blast spending time together, just PLAYING!

Here are some fun ideas to get you started:

1. Play with sidewalk chalk or sidewalk paint.

2. Go on a nature hunt. Here’s a bingo board I provided for my kids with specific things to look for, if you want something more structured.

3. Go hiking. The leaves may be starting to change color where you live!

4. Build a fort–inside or outside!

5. Go on a field trip. Gardens, farmer’s markets, children’s museums all make great field trips! You could visit a pumpkin patch or apple orchard this time of year, as well!

Let’s make a goal to become unplugged and enjoy this day of play with our children! What are your plans?
