Karo Syrup Apples

My kids love painting with Karo syrup. I’m sure it’s because they get to eat the “paint.” We’ve done these in the past for leaves and shamrocks. This week, we did it with apples for our apple unit.

Supplies:

Karo syrup (this stuff is clear)

Food coloring (red, green, or yellow for apple colors)

Apple blackline (I found this one in an ABC coloring book and copied it onto cardstock.)

Paint shirt

Procedure:

1. Pour a little bit of Karo syrup onto the paper.

2. Put a few drops of food coloring on the Karo syrup. I like to let my kids choose what color apple they want.

3. Let your children paint the apple with their fingers. The best part is letting them LICK as they paint!

4. Allow to dry overnight before hanging up (depending on how thick they painted, sometimes more time is needed).
