Who Stole the Egg? Game

A favorite game, similar to Who Stole the Cookie?

Put a couple of plastic eggs in an Easter basket. Have your children sit in a circle and place the basket in the middle. Choose one child to leave the room for a minute. While that child is gone, point to another child to take an egg from the basket. Have all the children put their hands in their laps, pretending they are hiding the egg. Have the first child return and try to guess who took the egg. I usually give them 3 chances.

Here are some fun words you can say while playing, which work on rhyming and rhythm (I’ve done it with these words and without–both are fun!):

Class: Who stole the egg from the Easter basket?

Child in middle: (Ann) stole the egg from the Easter basket?

Ann: Who me?

Class: Yes you!

Ann: Couldn’t be!

Class: Then who?

Child in middle: (Tommy) stole the  egg from the Easter basket?

Tommy: Who me?

(Repeat)
