Stories for Snuggling: Hush!

Hush! A Thai Lullaby (Caldecott Honor Books)

Hush! A Thai Lullaby by Minfong Ho

Oh my gosh!! This book is adorable, and my little girl is in love. I hear her “reading” this book over and over saying “Hush” on each page.

There is so much going on in this story that I don’t even know where to begin. The storyline is simple. A mommy has just put her baby to bed, and as the animals around her start making noise, she tells them to hush. But, if you look at the pictures closely, the baby is out of bed and playing. He crawls back into bed just before his mommy gets back.

The words are a Thai lullaby so they have lots of rhythm and repetition as you read. The author has also put words to the different sounds the animals are making, which makes it really fun to read out loud.

It’s fun to talk about the different animals, taking a guess as to which one comes next. At the end, we try to find them all sleeping.

Sometimes my kids pick out the cutest books from the library! So glad we found this one! 🙂
