Advent Calendars

To help my children understand how far away Christmas is, we make advent calendars each year that they can use to count down with. They look forward to cutting a ring off each day and seeing their chain get smaller. We are making ours today:

Here are some cute ideas from around the web. These are ideas your children can make rather than ideas that you, as the adult, make. Enjoy! (click on picture for link and instructions)

I also love the idea (which I’m finding is very common) of gathering up all your Christmas books and wrapping them up individually. Each night, you unwrap one and read it together. What a great way to implement reading into the Christmas holiday!
