Pilgrims: Clothing

101_0268

Background:

The Pilgrims wore as many clothes as possible. Pilgrim boys wore long-sleeved shirts, woolen jackets called doublets, and pants called breeches. The girls wore bonnets, collars, and jackets or vests over their dresses. On colder days, the Pilgrims also wore red or purple capes. Rich people wore red, purple, or gold colored clothes. Poorer people wore brown, yellow, and other bright colors. Men and boys kept their hats on when they were eating. The only time they took them off was when a toast was being made.

Activity: Make Pilgrim hats. These instructions were in my inbox from babycenter today so I thought I’d utilize them! Click on each picture for instructions (notice the girl’s hat is slightly different than my picture above).

I’d LOVE to see your pictures!!
