Karo Syrup Leaves

completed by 4-year-old

We have done this project before, but I wanted to show you how easy it is to adapt many activities to fit any time of year! Plus, this is one of our favorites!

Supplies:

Karo syrup (this stuff is clear)

Food coloring (red, orange, or yellow for fall leaves)

Leaf blackline (I like to do this on cardstock)

Paint shirt

Procedure:

1. Pour a little bit of Karo syrup onto the paper.

2. Put a few drops of food coloring on the Karo syrup. I like to let my kids choose what color leaf they want.

3. Let your children paint the leaf with their fingers. The best part is letting them LICK as they paint!

4. Allow to dry overnight before hanging up (depending on how thick they painted, sometimes more time is needed).
