Build-a-Letter and Alphabet Race

Build-a-Letter:

Many kids learn things kinesthetically, and this is a great activity to reinforce letters. I had students who struggled to learn through other forms, but whenever we’d do this activity, things seem to “stick.”

Letter E

Letter E

Have your children make various letters with their bodies. You may have to demonstrate at first. I always like to point out the different ways kids thought of to make the same letter.

As a side note, my son had to search for letters to put in his ABC book at preschool each week. We did this activity for each letter, took a picture, and printed it off for him to take. His teacher said the other kids always looked forward to seeing how he created it with his body!

Alphabet Race:

Put some letters on the floor on the other side of the room. I used foam letters from an ABC puzzle and put out like 5. Have your child stand on the other side of the room. Call out a letter. Your child runs down and finds the letter as fast as they can! Repeat with other letters.
