Stories for Snuggling: You Are Special

If I had to choose a favorite children’s book, this would probably be it. I love the message, and kids “get it.” After our first reading, my son looked at me, and said, “What makes me special, Mom?” “Because you’re you.”

You Are Special (Wemmicks Series) by Max Lucado: Book Cover

You Are Special by Max Lucado

The Wemmicks in Wemmicksville each have a box of star stickers and a box of dot stickers. They spend their days giving each other stickers–stars if they’re good at something, dots if they’re not. Well, one day, Punchinello meets a Wemmick with no stars or dots; they just don’t stick. Punchinello asks her secret, and she tells him. What follows is life-changing for Punchinello, as he begins to realize that it doesn’t matter what others think of him, but of what his creator thinks of him and of what he thinks of himself.

What more could you ask for in a children’s book?
