Pussy Willow Painting

Completed by 4-year-old

Completed by 4-year-old

Supplies:

Construction paper

Crayons

White or gray paint

Paint pallet

Paint shirt

Real pussy willows, if possible

Activity:

1.  Put a little paint on your paint pallet.

2.  Talk with your child about the signs of spring, focusing on how pussy willows are some of the first plants to bloom. Talk about the characteristics of pussy willows.

3.  Have your child draw some pussy willow stems with a crayon.

4.  Have your child put one finger in the paint, and then on their paper copying the growth of the pussy willows. Repeat until satisfied.

5.  Dry, then display in your house!

I love that children of all ages can do this!  My 1 1/2-year-old did her own version, after I showed her how.
