There Was an Old Lady…

There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Bat! (Paperback) ~ Lucille... Cover Art

There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Bat! by Lucille Colandro

This is a version of the “old lady who swallowed a fly” song, but with a Halloween twist! She swallows all sorts of Halloween things just to yell, “Trick or treat!” at the end. Lots of rhyming and repition, which is fun for kids to “read” along with you.

As a side note, there are a bunch of these by this same author. I really like the winter one and will post that one around Christmas.

  1. Thanks for your blog. I love kids books, especially Sandra Boynton’s books (my fav is “Pajama Time”). I have a book called “There was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Fly,” but it’s by a different author…Simms Taback. I’m looking forward to getting good ideas from you!

  2. Oooh!!! I love that one, too (“Old Lady” by Taback)! I have it in a big book. The pictures are AMAZING!! I also like his “Joseph Had a Little Overcoat.” His books are so fun!!!

And I don’t think I own any of Sandra Boynton’s books, which is a shame. Maybe I’ll just have to put them on my own Christmas list! Thanx for the idea!

  3. […] spring weather here, but I had to post just one more winter favorite! I posted another similar book back in October also by Lucille Colandro and promised you then that I would tell you about this one, […]
